Training Format

Face-to-face, instructor-led sessions supported by hands-on workshop practice. The course includes practical projects, group work, and continuous assessments.

Minimum entry requirements

  • Minimum KCPE certificate or its equivalent (basic literacy and numeracy).
  • National ID or valid identification document.
  • Passport-sized photos for registration.
  • Personal stationery (notebooks, pens, etc.).
  • Electrical tool kit
  • Willingness to adhere to the institution's code of conduct and class attendance policy.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, trainees will possess practical skills and technical knowledge to install, maintain, and troubleshoot basic electrical and electronic systems in residential, commercial, and light industrial settings.

  • Interpret and apply basic electrical drawings, symbols, and wiring diagrams
  • Install and maintain domestic and commercial electrical wiring systems
  • Identify and safely use electrical tools, instruments, and equipment
  • Diagnose and repair basic electrical faults using standard procedures
  • Understand and apply electrical safety practices and relevant codes of practice
  • Connect, test, and operate lighting and power circuits
  • Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems and appliances
  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic electronics and simple circuit construction
  • Prepare for trade testing under NITA or KNEC certification requirements
