Umoja 1 Vocational Training Centre

Umoja 1 Vocational Training Centre is the latest vocational Centre under Nairobi City County Government having opened its doors to the public in March, 2026. As such, a lot of institutional documentation for the Centre is still being done to align with the TVET policies/guidelines. The registration process with TVET is ongoing and request to NITA for accreditation of the Centre as an examination centre has been made.

Our courses

Umoja 1 Vocational Training Centre offers technical and vocational courses designed to provide practical and industry-relevant skills for employment and self-sustenance. The VTC also offers support subjects which further mold the trainees. These subjects include: 

Life skills
Entrepreneurship
Communication skills
Computer studies

Main Courses Offered

Courses are available at Grade III, II, and I, with examinations administered by:

  • National Industrial Training Authority (NITA)
  • Internal assessment 

Duration: Varies from three months to one year
Courses:
1.    Information Communication Technology (ICT)
2.    Food and Beverage Production and Service
3.    Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy 

Upcoming Courses
To expand its skills offering and meet rising market demand, the Centre will soon introduce:
- Bakery and Pastry
- Plumbing and Pipe Fitting
- Electrical Installation
